[ antidote ] [ portuguese skies ] [ thirteen ] [ joy ] [ fluffy brain ] [my lung]

my lung

i'll tell you now
today i realised
when dawn breaks one final day in time
when you wipe the dust from your timeless eyes
then i.... then i will be there
by your side

you are my lung, my heart, my soul
i'll breathe you in and laugh you out
you push the life right through me
make the praises burst out

today our promises will make us free
making our little house a trinity
of you... and god... and me
you and me

antidote

i killed myself today.

the stars were singing as i faded away.

the world was so far off

before you arrived.

i don’t know why I ever thought I was alive.

beautiful antidote

you are...

my beautiful,

beautiful love.

so you are me now.

take my place.

feel free to breathe now

put your smile on my face.

‘cause i was silence before you arrived.

i don’t know why I ever thought I was alive.

beautiful antidote

you are...

my beautiful,

beautiful love.

beautiful ....

portuguese skies

it’s another one of those stay in bed days,

when all the greens outside are blues and grays.

i spy a little plane fly over your head.

it’s got

one hundred bright windows,

one hundred bright faces,

and you’re wishing you were there instead.

i can see you’re

counting the days,

counting the hours,

counting the seconds,

‘til you’ll be somewhere,

just anywhere,

well... i wish you there.

i wish you

portuguese skies

for the rest of your restful life and

i wish you

the pinball smiles

of one thousand friends

caught in the lens

of your camera eyes

your camera eyes.

the customers have not stopped for hours,

on and on and on and on and on and on...

the manager came and said

“Jo for the last time i’ll tell you – stop looking out the window at the flowers!”

but...

the birds are singing in my favourite tree

it’s a rare one,

“canadian you know”,

said the nice old lady

and still i’m

counting the days,

counting the hours,

counting the seconds,

‘til i’ll be out there

just anywhere

well... i wish you there

yes, i wish you

portuguese skies

for the rest of your restful life and

i wish you

the pinball smiles

of one thousand friends

caught in the lens

of your camera eyes

your camera eyes.

thirteen

how long lord,

will you forget me?

and how long lord,

will you hide?

will you hide?

how long will i be blind?

how long will i be blind?

i only ask ‘cause it seems like forever

i only ask ‘cause it seems like forever,

i only ask ‘cause it seems like...

a long time

since you were here

how long lord,

must i wrestle with my mind?

and how long lord,

will i cry?

will i cry?

give me light or i will die

give me light or i will die

you know i ask because you’re my saviour

you know i ask because you’re my saviour

you know i ask ‘cause it seems like

it’d be ok

if you were here

but i can’t feel you here

no i can’t feel you here

but i will trust in your unfailing love

yes i will trust in your unfailing love

and i will sing of how you’ve been good to me

yes i will sing of how you’ve been good to me

oh i will sing of how you’ve been good to me

and i will rest

and i will know

you saved me

joy

i lie here awake

dreams aren’t real.

the past comes uninvited

now i kneel.

so strange now it’s over

to feel like i was wrong

when it’s clear i never asked you here

where you don’t belong

my heart is joy

my mouth is not for your sighs

my heart is joy

and these are lights in my eyes.

it’s snowing outside

snow changes everything

but i’ve learnt through these years

frozen tears change nothing.

and all dreams have an ending

so i’m sure it can’t be long

I’ll turn my face towards the wall

it’s time now to be strong

these are lights in my eyes...

[ antidote ] [ portuguese skies ] [ thirteen ] [ joy ] [ fluffy brain ] [my lung]

fluffy brain

far too many holes in his bulgy little head

stuffing brain a’ leakin’ out all over the bed

he’s never straight and never tall no matter how he sits

his ears are squint, his arms are stumps, he can’t get shoes that fit.

but someone hears him when he cries

someone dries his off-set eyes

someone mends his ears again

someone loves his fluffy brain

his father was a hamster and his mother was a bear

and him, the pink reminder of a sordid affair

his legs are rather bendy and his insides won’t stay in

his smile the only thing that kept him out of the bin

they didn’t pay attention when they threw on his nose

more important things to make than him i suppose

they say his head is far too big for one with no neck

and he thinks his seams are bursting but he’s too scared to check

he sees some people laughing through his squinty little eye

and carries home his lumpy heart pretending not to cry

he stains his tiny sofa with the die from his tears

but deep inside his fluffy brain he knows someone hears

yes... someone hears him when he cries

someone dries his off-set eyes

someone mends his ears again

someone loves his fluffy brain
